Wilburn, age 53 of Zwolle,
LA. passed away August 30, 2008
at his home. He was born August
30, 1955 in Lufkin to Ellis Lamar
WIlburn and Jo Beth Hardy WIlburn.
Mark
was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He loved the outside and being
with nature. Mark was of the Baptist
faith and was baptized in Toledo
Bend Lake in 1996. He had his
own fishing business in Zwolle,
known as "Today's Catch".
which he built after movng to
Louisiana in 1996.
Visitation

time, Wednesday, September 3 at

will be held 2 PM, Wednesday,
September 3, at Oaklawn Memorial

27, 1008 at 12:41 PM and passed
on to be with God at 1:57 PM.
Survivors include his parents,

Stanley who precedes him in death.

(Walker) Pledger. Miss Pledger
retired after 40 years of employment
with Walgreen Drug Stores in Little
Rock, AR, and Shreveport, La.
She was a member of Western Hills
Baptist Church of Shreveport.

31, 1921 in Alto, Texas to James
Eli Whitton and Mary Gertrude
Patterson Whitton. Mr. Whitton
served in the U.S. Cavalry during
World War II as part of the Burma
China Defensive. He continued
to serve his country as a federal
livestock inspector. As inspector
he patrolled the Rio Grande River
for illegal cattle contaminated
with fever ticks. He retired to
Center in 1981, where he farmed
and raised his family.

Green passed away Wednesday, August
13, 2008 in Lake Jackson.
Born
in Shelby County, Texas on August
25, 1917, Anna Belle Green was
the daughter of the late Homer
Hamilton and Bertha (Elrod) Screws.
She and Flowler Tot Green were
married October 17, 1936, and
enjoyed 70 years together until
his death on March 29, 2007. She
was a dedicated wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother,
and friend to all. She was a member
of Timpson Missionary Baptist
Church and the Order of the Eastern
Star.
Survivors
include a daughter, Trina Green
Taylor of Lake Jackson, Texas;
grandson Alex Taylor and wife
Barbra of Irmo, SC; granddaughter
d'Arceyanne Taylor Scott and husband
Mike of Lake Jackson; 4 great
grandchildren; Wesley Taylor,
Makenize Scott, Zachary Taylor
and Dawson Scott. Also surviving
are sisters Pauline Nix and Dovie
Lee Casey, brother Leon Screws,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In
addition to her parents and husband,
she was preceded in death by brothers
Joseph Paul Screws, Homer Benjamin
Screws, and Homer Henry Screws,
and sister Adelle Berdie Screws
Stone.

Johnson, age 86, of Timpson,
service will be at 1 PM, Saturday,
August 16, 2008 in Wallace Chapel
Baptist Church, Timpson, with
interment in Smyrna Cemetery.
Officiating will be Pastor Vertis
Norman. Mr. Johnson passed away
August 11, 2008, in Nacogdoches.
Born
in Timpson on September 15, 1921,
Carl Johnson was the son of the
late Anthony and Hattie (Todd)
Johnson. He was married to the
late Gerldine (William) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a Deacon of Wallace
Chapel Baptist Church and worked
as a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors
include sons; Charles Ray Johnson
of Houston and Larry Johnson of
Timpson; daughters Hattie Love
of Houston, Etois McLendon and
husband Lavance of Irving, Texas,
Gladys Faye Johnson and husband
Larry of Timpson, and Jeanette
Johnson of Houston. Mr. Johnson
also helped rear grandson Mario
Johnson and granddaughter Shauntee
Simmons. Other survivors include
brother Glenn Johnson of Los Angeles,
CA. 15 grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren.
In
addition to his parents, Carl
was preceded in death by his wife
Gerldine(Williem) Johnson, daughter
Carolyn Hudson, granddaughter
Marcia Osby and 2 great grandsons.

age 92, of Timpson, Texas funeral

in Buena Vista Cemetery. Officiating

Rev. James Blaylock.
Mrs.
Hairgrove passed away at her home
on Sunday, August 10, 2008. Born
in Nacogdoches County, Texas on
December 17, 1915 she was the
daughter of the late Ellis and
Dolly (Campbell) Lilly. She and
Leon Hairgrove were married February
25, 1940 adn were blessed with
61 years together before his death
August 24, 2001. Laura Hairgrove
was a faithful member of Buena
Vista Baptist Church for 68 years.
Survivors
include: Son, David Hairgrove
and wife Rebecca of Timpson; Daughter,
Bettie Christian and husband Jack
of Tenaha; Granddaughter, Angela
Whitton and husband Josh; Great
Grandson, Wyatt David Whitton
and 2 Sisters, Lois Powers and

addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by husband,
Leon Hairgrove, brothers Lacy

Gean
Sholar Byrd, 83, of Beaumont,
died Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
A native of Jones County, Mississippi
and resident of the Beaumont area
for thirty-five years, Mrs. Byrd
was a nurse and later a bookkeeper
for J&J Motel. Even though
Gean had a many careers, her first
concerns were her family and friends
when they needed her. She was
the first to arrive and the last
to leave.
Her
husband, Lynn C. Byrd preceded
her in death.
Survivors
include her five step-grandchildren;
step-great grandchildren; step-great
great grandchildren; eight nieces
and nephews; and a host of great
nieces and nephews; great great
nieces and nephews; and great
great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral
service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday,
August 9, 2008 at Broussard’s,
1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
A graveside service will be 2:30
p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in
Nacogdoches with John Clubb, Mike
Ioannaglou, Michael Simoneaux,
Jr., Mark Byrd Norman Manuel,
and Eric Dickman serving as honorary
