Annie Mae Pankow, 86, of Mayville, WI passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Mayville Nursing and Rehibilitaion Center.

Visitation for Annie will be on Thursday, September 3, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Christian Life Fellowship, Mayville, WI. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3 at 4:00 pm at the church, Christian Life Fellowship, Mayville, WI. with the Rev. David Koch officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Mayville, WI.

Annie was born on September 4, 1922, in Neuville, TX, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Bailey) McPherson. On July 7, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clarence H. Pankow in Nueville, TX.

Annie retired from Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, WI. She was a member at Christian Life Fellowship. Annie was also a member of the Mayville American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She was a member of the Eastern Star. With her husband Clarence they drove for Meals on Wheels and were members of the Mayville Senior Center.

Annie is survived by her daughter, Betty (Walter) Malchek, Beaver Dam, WI; 1 brother, Windy (Daphine) Whitlock, Center, TX. 1 Aunt, Johnny Bailey, Center, TX. Grandchildren, Tanya (Bill) Polly, Jennifer, Keri (Keith), Rebecca, Bob, Shawn (Julie). 10 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clarence in 1998, son Ken and daughter in law, Carol. Grandson Jason Malchek, Grandaughter Jennifer and husband Roger, Great Grandchild Jason Jr. Brother and sister in law, Elmer and Clara Pankow.

Funeral services for Carl Junior Smith, 75 of Gary, Texas will be held at Hawthorn’s Funeral Home in Carthage , Texas, Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Gary Orr officiating. Interment will be held at the White Rock Cemetery in the Akins Community in Shelby County.

Carl Junior Smith was born on June 28, 1934, in Grigsby, Texas to Joe “Monk” Engram and Della Smith. He passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Whispering Pines Lodge in Longview, Texas surrounded by family and loving staff members.

He married Rachel E. Hollis on December 19, 1953, and was blessed in marriage for 55 wonderful years before the Lord called him home.

He worked for The American Can Company in Houston, Texas for eighteen years. He also owned and operated wrecker services for over thirty years. In 1980, Carl moved to East Texas and was employed by Panola County Road and Bridge. In 1986, he operated the family business in Nacogdoches, Texas which consisted of a convenience store, tire shop, wrecker service, an RV park, and an indoor and outdoor flea market. Carl’s real hobbies were truck farming and fishing. His humor was like no one else’s in the world. He was a friend to everyone and loved by all.

He is survived by his loving wife Rachel Smith, son Bobby Smith of Gary, Texas, daughter Helen and son in law Victor Slanina of Bastrop, Texas, and daughter Pattie and son in law Mark Foster of Tatum, Texas. The memories are many and will always be cherished.

Eight grandchildren, Carl Jeffrey Anderson, Pattie Lynn Foster, William Endsley, Megan Wilson, Rebecca Kennon, Christopher Endsley, Eric Endsley, and Missy Foster who loved and will miss him. Also two great grandchildren, Kolby and Miley Wilson.

He leaves behind one sister, Geraldine Smith of Tenaha, Texas and one sister in law, Marilyn Smith of Tenaha, Texas, as well as numerous and much loved nieces and nephews.

Carl was proceeded in death by is parents, Joe “Monk” Engram and Della Smith, a loving step-father Wilburn Jefferson Luman, and fourteen brother’s and sister’s.

Mary Beatrice Barrick, 76, of Joaquin, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Holiday Nursing Center. She was born January 5, 1933 in Hedley, Texas to Claude Elvin Sizemore and Lida May Marlow Sizemore.

Funeral services will be held in Broken Bow, Oklahoma at a future date.

Among her survivors: Husband Orval Barrick of Joaquin.

William Hugh Bodle, 69, of Rio Vista, California, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Trinity Rehabilitation Center in San Augustine. He was born August 11, 1940 in Sheraton, Wyoming to Marlin Phillip Bodle and Scarlet Decker Bodle.

A private memorial will be held in Wyoming for Mr. Bodle in the near future.

Oran Williams, Jr., 58, of Etoile, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his home. He was born October 10, 1950 in Center to Oran Williams and Lela Phillips Williams. Oran was a member of the Sam Samford Masonic Lodge #149, and served in the 101st Airborne division of the Army during Vietnam from 1967 - 1972. He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in engineering, and was of the Baptist faith.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm, to 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Robert Lee Stanley, age 60, of Center passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services for Irene Bass Fleming, 88, of Timpson, TX, will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 28, 2009, at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with Bro. Sammy Eldredge officiating. Mrs Fleming passed away Wednesday, August 26th, in Nacogdoches, Tx.

Born September 7, 1920, in Timpson, Irene Bass Fleming was the daughter of the late Jacob Albert Ivy, Sr. and Sarah Ella (Powers) Ivy. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, Timpson.

Survivors include 2 sons: Glyn Bass and wife Janis and Bob Bass, all of Timpson; sister Betty Harbison of Nacogdoches; 6 grandchildren: Teresa Crawford, Christy, Karen, Laura, Gordon Bass and Rodney Bass; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by husband Woody Fleming, daughter Janette Foshee, an infant son, 1 brother and 4 sisters.

Donald Vance McLean, 72, of Center, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 in Nacogdoches. Mr. McLean was born March 7, 1937 in Guadalupe County to Roy Vance McLean and Rachael Lakey McLean. He was the co-owner of McLean Bookkeeping and Income Tax Service in Center. Mr. McLean was a lifelong musician. He was also a member of Dewville Methodist Church.

Rev. Nelson Eugene Doan, II, age 47, a resident of Center, Texas, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 19, 2009. Eugene was born on December 9, 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Preceding Eugene in death were grandparents, Milton and Bertha Coon of Crockett, TX and Howard and Fariba Doan of Houston, TX, and his father, Rev. Nelson Eugene Doan of Crockett, TX.

The surviving family members include Eugene's wife of eleven years, Jonetta Shadrock Doan of Center, TX, and step children, Wesley Steven Shadrock of Center, TX, and Tiffany Ann Shadrock of San Antonio, TX.

Eugene is survived by his mother, Tina Doan Skidmore and husband, Charles Skidmore of Grapeland, TX; one sister, Charlotte Doan Birdwell of Marthaville, LA and husband, Coy; one brother, Marcus Dwayne Doan of Live Oak, TX and wife, Tonya; one niece and four nephews, Blaine Doan of Live Oak, TX and Heath Doan of Live Oak, TX, Savannah Birdwell Turner of Westerville, OH, and husband, Josh, Benjamin Birdwell of Nashville, TN and wife, Kimbre, Grant Birdwell of Universal City, TX, and wife, Alanna.

Also, dear to Eugene's heart are three young men who were also FAMILY in Eugene's eyes and heart: Chad, Stanley, and Nathan Freeman.

Eugene also leaves to grieve his absence a host of extended aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Eugene was an honor graduate of Crockett High School in 1980. He attended the following institutions of higher learning: Angelina College, Lufkin; Wesley College, Florence, MS; Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, TX; and Wayland Baptist University, San Antonio, TX.

He enjoyed teaching piano and organ, he encouraged many through his music. He was co-owner of a florist shop and decorated many historical homes for Christmas and for many other special occasions. He participated in choral presentations for crusades, city-wide religious programs, performances, dramas, revivals, vacation Bible schools, and music schools across denominational lines. He served as a substitute public school teacher, managed two restaurants, worked in accounts receivable and other managerial capacities, served as a team member of the Sheriff Department's Chaplain Service, radio announcer and sales.

He answered God's call to the ministry in June, 1994. On October 23, 2004, Eugene was ordained as an Elder in The Congregational Methodist Church.

Eugene was actively involved in varied ministries (Christian Education, Music— Choir Director, Organist, Pianist and Minister of Music) In the following churches: Marvin United Methodist Church in Florence, MS, Wayside Bible Church in Crockett, TX, All Saints' Episcopal Church in Crockett, TX, First United Methodist Church in Madisonville, TX, and Nacogdoches CM Church in Nacogdoches, TX.

As an ordained minister Eugene pastored Bear Creek CM Church, 2003-2005, in Quitman, LA, and recently he served as a home missionary church planter for A New Beginning CM Church, in Center, TX.

Since February, 2008, Eugene served as the Director of the Senior Nutrition Site in Center, TX.

Eugene’s objective was to: act justly, love tenderly, to walk humbly with God, to actively serve the Lord Jesus Christ in ministry anywhere and any manner available— to be a vessel willing to be used in any way to reach the lost for the cause of Christ.

Funeral services for Rev. Nelson Eugene Doan, II, were held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Crockett with Dr. A. Charles Allen officiating. Interment followed in the Lovelady Antioch Cemetery.

Oland Parker, 68, of El Paso formerly Center, passed away Wednesday August 19, 2009 in El Paso, Texas.

Service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 23, 2009 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday August 23, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home.
He was born August 14, 1941 in Center to Charles Atlas and Jennie Ruth (McCoy) Parker. Oland left Center to serve in the US Army in January 1959. He served in Europe and in Vietnam, he was transportation officer in the General Services Administration, and worked in the Federal Prison System. His honors include the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal w/60 Device. After his military career, he formed and ran an air taxi business and his own trucking company. He was stricken with amyotropic lateral sclerosis (ALS, “Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 1988 and fought it bravely until his death from related causes.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Atlas Parker, and his mother Ruth.

Oneita "Auntie" Muckleroy, 87, of Timpson, Tx. services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2009, in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Timpson, with Rev. Cliff Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Mrs. Muckleroy passed away in Green Acres of Center, Tx., on Wednesday, August 19, 2009.

Born in Timpson, on March 5, 1922, Oneita Muckleroy was the daugther of the late Otis and Clara (Crump) Rhodes. She was a graduate of Timpson High School and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Timpson. She loved to play the piano and guitar and sign gospel music.

Oneita is survived by her husband of 45 years Gene Muckleroy of Timpson; brother Darrell Rhodes of Timpson; granddaughter Tonya Rhodes Brock of Stedman, NC. great grandchildren Joseph Turlington, David Young and Kyleen Hunter.

In addidtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Oneil Rhodes and his wife Betty Sue and nephews Bubba, Roger, and Curly Rhodes.

Charles W. "Chuck" Burch, Jr., 74 of Kenefick, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at teh Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, August 20, 2009, at the Old Center Cemetery in Center. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 9 PM, Tuesday, at the Pace-stancil Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Chuck was born November 1, 1934 in Omha, NE, to parents, Charles W. Sr. and Lois Lyle Burch, a frome resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Kenefick are for the past 37 years. He was a graduate of the Lutheran High School of Houston, a veteran of the US Army, a retired machinist for Amco Steel of Houston, a member of the Denefick Southern Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing, travel and bowling.

Mr. Burch was preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughter: Faith Psensik, parent-in-law: Boby G. and Lila Mae Schwartz, bother-in-law Jim Krunk, and niece: Dawn Kruk. He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Martha E. Schwartz Burch of Kenefick, daughters: Kimberly O'Neal and husband Bryan of Dayton, Kathy Brackin of Dayton, and Kristy Coursey and husband Herbert, Jr of Liberty Hill, grandchildren: Keith, Amber, Jessi and husband Travis, Charles, Cody, Justin, and Elizabeth, great-grandchildren Milo and Ayden, sisters: charlene Kruk of GA and Diane Burch of The Woodlands, brother and sister-in-law:: Duane and Renee Hooper, Gerald Hooper, Bobby and Betty Schwartz adn Dean and Cathy Schwartz and numerous nieces, other relatives and friends.

Kelly Maraggia, 46 of Carthage passed away August 14, 2009 in Carthage, Texas. Mrs. Kelly Kim Trout Maraggia was born September 15, 1962 in Long Beach, California to the marriage of John and Sue Lasher Trout. Kelly was a consultant for many years but the last few years enjoyed being a rancher and breeding Black Angus cattle. Mrs. Maraggia loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother.

Jennifer Lea Bobbitt, born Jan. 25, 1957, departed this world on Wednesday, Aug. 12, after a brief and devastating illness. She touched the lives of everyone she encountered, her family, friends, and co-workers.

Jennifer was born in Houston, TX and was a 5th generation Texan, a fact she was very proud of. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1975 and lived her entire life in Houston. She worked for 21 years at Allright Parking, Inc. before taking early retirement. She then worked as an accountant for Kingsley Constructors, Inc. in The Woodlands for 11 years. Her friends and co-workers remember her as a friend and as a leader – her enthusiasm so infected those around her, that some even tried to copy her in various ways, even down to speaking like her! Jennifer left an indelible mark everywhere she went. Her vibrant persona made everyone’s day. She turned friends and co-workers into family; solved problems; and was always “there” for them. Although not clinically trained as a psychotherapist, Jennifer’s upbeat personality and empathy for those in need drew a flock of “clients,” most of whom swore her brand of unconditional support and intense listening skills beat the socks off most licensed practitioners.
She leaves behind a host of loving family members, friends, and co-workers, including her parents: Paul and Mavis Bobbitt; brother, Chris Bobbitt; sister, Joy Jenkins and husband Chuck Jenkins; niece, Amy Schroeder; nephew, Wesley Jenkins; great nephews Riley Wade and Jett Wade; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff in the MICU at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands and the entire staff at HealthCare Odyssey, the Conroe hospice where Jennifer transitioned to the heavens. Raya Machupa, Ph.D., the spiritual advisor at Odyssey, was of particular comfort to Jennifer and those who love her. There is no doubt of “life after life,” and we know that Jennifer – although she deserves a rest - will continue to take care of us. Our lives are the better for knowing her.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Forest Park-The Woodlands, located at 18000 I-45. Judy Worry, 58, of San Augustine County died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2008, at her residence in the New Hope Community.

Mrs. Worry was born March 19, 1951, in Center, Texas, to the late Jack and Lamerl (Bennefield) Ponder. She worked in the cafeteria at the intermediate school for San Augustine Independent School District. She had also worked at Burks Grocery. She was a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church.

Survivors: her husband, Lonnie Ray Worry of San Augustine County; daughters, Tina Comstive and husband Frank of Richmond and Tonillia Byley and husband Kent of San Augustine; grandchildren, Kortney Wall, Brett Byley, Tara Fuller, Josh Byley, Rose Comstive, and Lily Comstive; great-grandchildren, Tristian Fuller and Madison Fuller; brothers, Greg Ponder of San Augustine, Charles Wayne Ponder and wife Shawna of Pineland, and Todd Ponder and wife Angie of Belmont, Louisiana; and sisters, Diane Lott and husband Terry of Rosevine, Pam Speight of Lufkin, and Jacqueline Haley and husband Ray of San Augustine.

Pauline Gary Harvey "Dute" Black, 89, of Marshall passed away on August 3, 2009 in Jefferson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 6, 2009 in Cool Springs Cemetery, Logansport, Louisiana with Martin Hergert officiating.

Pauline Gary Harvey Black was born on October 29, 1919 in Tyler, Texas to Benjamin Franklin Gary and Ida Jane Boucher Gary. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Joaquin, Texas. She was made from pioneer stock and knew the value of a hard days work. She knew the ethics of taking care of her family and their needs. She was always there when you had a need. Pauline was outspoken, witty and always had a unique way of turning a phrase. She formerly lived in Logansport, Louisiana.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Lois Black of Marshall, Maxine Brown of Shreveport, John Leggett of Joaquin and Ann Harvey of Huxley and a number of great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, George Harvey and Joe Black; parents, brother, Woodrow Gary and sister, Gladys Leggett.

Mrs. Syble Jo (Ogden) Brewster, age 79, of Jasper, Texas, passed away Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Brewster was born in Shelby County, Texas, and formerly resided in San Augustine County. She was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a 1948 graduate of Brookeland High School. She was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed sewing, gardening, handwork, embroidery, and crocheting.

Survivors: her husband of 59 years, L.T. “Bob” Brewster; a son, Roscoe Brewster and wife Janetta of Jasper, Texas; a daughter, Donna Baker and husband David of Nacogdoches, Texas; six grandchildren, Jeremy Brewster and wife Holly, Katie Groves and husband Wesley, JoDee Baker, Jared Baker, Jenny Baker, and Justin Baker; and a great-grandson, Koby Groves.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Duetta (Whitton) Ogden; and her sister, Johnnie Wood.

J W Jackson, 88, of Beaumont, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 2, 2009. He was born in Shelbyville, Texas on July 14, 1921 to C F and Kate Jackson. After WWII he moved to Orange to work at Consolidated Steel Shipyard and later the Boilermakes Local 587.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ione Wood, Gay Neil Moor, June McGill, Sandy Parkhurst; brothers, Alan Jackson and Charles Jackson; grandchildren, Jay Medore and Melissa Medore. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Iva Jane Jackson and children, Lynda Medore of New Braunfels, Jennifer Bryan of Canyon Lake, and Douglas Jackson of Beaumont; sister, Billie Grindal; brother, Alan Wayne Jackson of Orange; grandchildren, Holly Cruise and husband Randy of Lumberton, Todd Hamilton and wife Kimberly of San Antonio, Shelli Jackson of Bridge City, Jason Jackson of Beaumont, and spiritual grandson Jim Castellan of Beaumont and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was born in San Augustine, Texas , January 23, 1930 to Arbie Alex and Zelma Viola Wilkinson Flournoy; was a member and deacon of Longview Missionary Baptist Church; was active in Longview Boys Baseball Association and served on the board and coached for many years. He was a credit manager at LeTourneau Inc. and served in the US Army in Korea. Mr. Flournoy was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clifford Earl.

Pastor R.L. “Bob” Coudrain, 76, of Joaquin, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009 at a Shreveport hospital. He was born March 17, 1933 in Evadale, Texas to Paul Coudrain and Emmy Burch Coudrain. Pastor Coudrain had been in the ministry for over 50 years, having been pastor at First Pentecostal of Joaquin for 10 years. He had also operated Cardinal Plumbing, and later Acker Plumbing in Beaumont for many years.
