Clifford Lowe, 71, of Joaquin, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at a Center nursing home. He was born April 15, 1935 in Joaquin to Sylvester Lowe and Thelma Walker Lowe. Mr. Lowe was a member of Jackson Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin.

Huey P. Barton, 71, of Winnsboro, passed away Friday, January 26, 2007 at his home in Winnsboro. Mr. Barton was born on April 3, 1935 in the Patroon Community to Shafter Barton and Clara Roe Barton. He served his country in the U S Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Barton was a member of the Winnsboro Mansonic Lodge. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2007 at Old Home Baptist Church with Bro. Sam Roe officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Home Cemetery.

Richard Allen Fancher, 53, of Center, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007. He was born February 8, 1953 in Houston to Allen Earl and Jackie McSwain Fancher. Mr. Fancher was a member of McClelland Baptist Church and was in the US Navy.

She was born November 28, 1926 to John and Gladys Mitchell Mooseberg. She worked for Farmers State Bank in the bookkeeping dept. for 35 years and she owned and operated Samford's Grocery on Nacogdoches St. here in Center with her husband Clarence Ford Samford for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Center.

Rosine Melton Pinkston - (Submitted by Mangum Funeral Home, Center, Texas) Graveside service for Rosine Melton Pinkston, 83, of Rosenberg, will be held at 1 p m Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.

Rosine Melton Pinkston was born September 11, 1923 in Appleby, Texas and died as a result of complications of a stroke which occurred January 13th,. She was the daughter of William B. Melton and Rosa Belle Blacksher Melton and grew up on their farm north of Appleby. Rosine completed high school in Appleby and late graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1944 with a degree in Home Economics. She taught school briefly in Shelbyville and married William R. Pinkston of Center upon his return from service in World War II. He preceded her in death March 30, 1999. She is survived by a daughter Martha Kilpatrick and son in law Gary Kilpatrick, sons, John Pinkston, Tom Pinkston and daughter in law Maria Pinkston, 3 grandchildren and many loving relatives.

Rosine and Bill built their lives together in the Houston area after the war, living there for nearly forty years. They retired in 1989 and lived the remainder of their years together in Rosenberg, Texas. Rosine was an accomplished homemaker. She was an excellent cook and loved to sew. She took great interest in coin collecting, bird watching and genealogy. In her latter years she remained interested in all of these things and became an avid sports fan. Her children and friends were continually amazed by her generous and kind heart and the loving attention and thoughtfulness she brought to life. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James Vard, Joe, George Travis, Rosser and Kenner Melton: Sisters, Laura Melton Trawick and Fannie Lucille Melton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born February 3, 1919 to John and Mattie Lee Rogers Hutto. She was retired from Southland Corporation where she managed Seven Eleven Stores. She was an avid 42 domino player and she enjoyed old classic country music. She was a member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in Orange, Texas. She was a wonderful cook.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mattie Hutto, 2 brothers, Walter Hutto and Edward Hutto, 3 sisters, Etoile Trout, Annie Johnson and Addie Mae Johnson.

LaJuan Still Kay, 70 of Huxley, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. LaJuan was born April 16, 1936, in Huxley, Texas, the daughter of Harry and Lucille Still. She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lisa, her parents, and bothers Jack and Michael Still.

She is survived by her soul mate, best friend, and the love of her life through 50 years of marriage, husband Bill. Bill and Lajuan were high school sweethearts and the love they shared was an inspiration to all their family and friends. She leaves behind her son Marty and his wife Renee'. The overwhelming mother's love she carried in her heart for Marty was evident in her eyes and her voice each time she spoke of him. She was extremely proud of the man and father he had become. LaJuan is also survived by three beloved and adored grandchildren, Sarah, Mason and Mathew. Each phone call or visit, each smile and hug by them was priceless gift to her by her very own angels.Friends and family were familiar with LaJuan's angel collection, but now she has been called home to join God's angels and one very special angel, her daughter Lisa, to be ever present with the Lord.

LaJuan is also survived by her brother Jerry and his wife Sandy of Houston, her sister, Judy Partin of Nacogdoches, Sister in law, Deanna Still of Nacogdoches and Sue Still of Center, as well as several nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

LaJuan worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston for 26 years before retirement. She was a member of Lydia Baptist Church in Huxley. One of the hardest things LaJuan dealt with throughout her illness was her inablility to atten church every Sunday to hear Brother Luke Garrett preach God's Word and to see her church family.

The family will recieve friends beginning at 5 pm until 7 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home with Brother Luke Garrett and Bro. W.W. Permenter officiating. burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Houston, Texas at 1 pm Monday, January 22, 2007. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to LifeCare Hospice, 320 North Street, Suite 301, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961, or a charity of your choice, in honor of LaJuan.

Mr. Westerfield was a former employee of Center I.D.S. and Fred Hudson KC True Value Hardware. He was a member of the Lone Cedar Missionary Baptist Church in Joaquin. Mr. Westerfield served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

A native and longtime Jasper resident, he was a former resident of Tenaha, Texas where he was a member of Ramah Baptist Church and the Tenaha Masonic Lodge. A truck driver, he worked with Bobby Biscamp and Whitton Trucking for many years. A former bull rider, he enjoyed rodeo, especially the bull riding. He like to ride 4-wheelers in the mud and watch wrestling.

Survivors include his parents Link and Geneva Marshall of Jasper, on son Michael Lane Marshall of Tenaha, two daughters, Angel DuCroz and Jessica Marshall White, both of Tenaha, brother Kenneth marshall of Elkhart, Texas, sister in law Dianne Cansler of Jasper, three grandchildren. Jaden Washinton, Jordon Marshall and Joshua White, Jr. He is also survived by his fiancee Rhonda Miller of Newton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clayborn W. Marshall.

Frances Holland Moore age 87 of San Augustine formerly of Midlothian, Texas passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Shelby Regional Hospital.

Graveside Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin with Bro. Dock Lazarine officiating and burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday January 13, 2007 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. At Mangum Funeral Home.

Mrs. Moore was born September 16, 1919 in Midlothian, Texas to Parents, Emory Issac & Mary Kate (Jones) Holland. She was a homemaker and housewife.

Hugh O. Gamble - 73, of Center, passed away January 10, 2007. He was born January 29, 1933 in San Augustine to Sam Houston Gamble and Jackie Estes Gamble. Mr. Gamble was a Sergeant in the U S Army and a member or Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a retired local manager from Entex Gas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, January 12, 2007 at Watson and Sons Chapel in Center with Rev. Henry Hughes and Rev. Gordon Vaughn officiating.

Angelo Mulla, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away January 9, 2007 at Shelby Regional Medical Center. He was born July 18, 1926 in Houston to Angelo Joseph Mulla and Katherine Lima Mulla. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Theresa Choir and St. Theresa Catholic Church. Mr. Mulla was retired from the Navy after 25 years of service.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 12, 2007 at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Center. Interment will follow at Mulla Cemetery in Joaquin.

Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.

Ruth Earlene "Patty" Jernigan, 76, of Center, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. One of four children, she was born September 26, 1930 in Houston to E. B. and Minnie Inez Taylor Samford. She and her husband, Joe, moved to Center in 1970 with their five children. Patty was a devoted christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of McClelland Community Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Watson and Sons Chapel in Center with Bro. Arvie Jernigan and Bro. Chris Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Center.
