Inez
Wiley Wieser Cockrell:
Graveside Service will be 4:00
p.m. Thursday July 24, 2008 at
Sholar Cemetery in Joaquin, TX.
She
was born in Montgomery, Alabama
on March 21, 1929 to John and
Annie Mildred Wiley. She was the
mother of five children.
Inez
moved to Mobile as a child and
lived there until she married
Bill Cockrell and they moved to
Shreveport, Louisiana in 1965.
When
Inez was young she loved music
and dancing. She was a beautiful
girl, always impeccably dressed.
She adored wearing large circular
skirts with her favorite red sling
back heels.
There
was also a motorcycle in her early
days that took Inez and her young
family many exciting places; Edie
rode on the front and Doris rode
on the back!!
Inez
worked many years for Hostess
Bakery Store, but the love of
her life was, the years she worked
for the Goodwill Industries. Not
only was she a wonderful employee,
she was also their best customer.
Inez
could not have been happier when
she knew that there was a new
grandchild or even better, a great-grandchild
on the way. Whether they lived
far or near, she loved hearing
about the new babies, their accomplishments
as they grew older, and ached
with them during their hardest
times. She was their biggest fan.
All long distance calls with Grandma
always ended with “Grandma
loves you”.
You
could always count on her to say,
“God love you” or
“Bless your heart”.
She loved coconut cake, divinity,
peanut butter sandwiches, and
morning coffee and black jelly
beans!
There were numerous pets in Inez’s
life; many dogs, several ducks,
birds, and a pot belly pig that
did not stay long. The last pet
she had was possibly her favorite,
a dog named “Foots”.
Inez had two dogs in Kentucky,
Tess and BeBe that were wonderful
companions. They loved the company
of their “Grandma”.
Inez
lived the last two years of her
life in London, Kentucky. She
enjoyed watching “The Gaithers”
every Saturday night on TV; she
had seen them in concert in Shreveport.
Inez passed away at home in London,
Kentucky on April 23, 2008 after
a brave 3 year battle with cancer.
She will be missed dearly by friends
and family she knew and loved.
She
was preceded in death by her husband,
Bill Cockrell; her parents John
and Annie Mildred Wiley; her grandmother
Rebecca Inez Marin; a sister Sophie
Beaver; a brother Marion Franklin
Wiley; and her only son, Baby
Patrick.
She is survived by:
*her mother-in-law, Iva Cockrell
of Port Niches, Texas
*her daughters and sons-in-law,
Doris and Billy Weninegar of London,
Kentucky
Edie and Cliff Wheeler of Grand
Cane, Louisiana
Carllene and Don Villareal of
Saginaw, Michigan
Connie Owers of Shreveport, Louisiana
Inez
is survived by one special and
chosen daughter, Kathy Lafitte,
also of Shreveport, Louisiana.
She
is survived by her grandchildren;
Veanessa, Kimberly, Joey, Cheryl,
Trey, Laura, Todd, Adam, and William
and her great-grandchildren; Christopher,
Brian, Haley, Andrew, Hannah,
William, Courtney, Megan, Makinah,
Matthew, Ian, Hayley, Cole, Melanie,
Jaylen, Tanner. And a dear friend,
Barbara Collins.
