George Martin McLendon,
92, of Kerrville, formerly of
Center, passed away Monday, March
31, 2008 at a Kerrville hospital.
He was born October 18, 1915 to
Martin Bartow and Carrie Smithson
McLendon. George enjoyed spending
quality time with his great grandchild,
hunting, fishing and his pets.
He had many friends and a love
of visiting with people. George
loved to cut up with people, and
help those in need. He was a Christian
of Baptist Faith and member of
First Baptist Church in Center.
Until recently, he was very active
with his Masonic Order and recently
celebrated his 57nd year with
the Sam Samford Masonic Lodge
in Center. He had accomplished
the Thirty-Third Degree of the
Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
George was one of the last survivors
of CCC Co. 880.
Visitation
will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00
pm, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at
Watson & Sons Funeral Home
in Center. Funeral services will
be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday,
April 3, 2008 at Watson &
Sons Chapel with Dr. Joe B. Hooker

end of her full life of 92 years.

Tool Company. It was there she
met and married Exter Jennings
and attended Life Tabernacle Pentecostal
Church in Houston. Until her late
60’s, Mable practiced nursing
in the Great Houston Area.
Memorial

at 11:00 am on March 27, 2008.
Graveside services will follow
at 4:00 pm at South Park Cemetery
in Houston, where Exter was previously

in Mount Enterprise, Texas. James
was born January 11, 1934, in
Mount Enterprise, Texas, the son
of Ralph Talley and Mattie B Nettles
Matlock. Mr. Matlock was a graduate
of Mount Enterprise High School.
He worked as a Metro bus driver
for the city of Houston for 36
years. He loved the outdoors and
all sports. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Eileen Delores
Matlock; son, Keith Dale Matlock;
and his father. He is survived
by his mother, Mattie B. Nettles
Matlock of Mount Enterprise; sons,
Ronnie W. Matlock and wife, Trina,
of Baytown, Texas, John W. Ferguson
and wife, Nita, of Flower Mound,
Texas, and Greg D. Matlock and
wife, Martha, of Irving, Texas;
sister, Rita Hughes of Center,
Texas; brothers, Jerry Matlock,

2008. She was born
April 14, 1914, in Nacogdoches,
Texas. She was preceded in death
by her husband,
Howard Smith Motley, Sr., her
parents, Anna Amelia and Frank
Sebastian Schott, and
by brothers, Francis J. Schott,
D. V. M., and Eugene E. “Brother”
Schott.
She
was kind. She was genuinely concerned
for the well-being of others.
She was loyal to her Church, but
more than that, she was devoted
to God. As a teacher, she was
respected by both her students
and colleagues, imparting her
wisdom with a calm and clear perspective.
She is survived by six children:

Mr.
Hooper passed away March 5, 2008,
in Gary, Texas. Born on October
9, 1934, in Timpson, Texas, he
was the son of the late Robin
L. and Emma L. (Trammell) Hooper.
Mr. Hooper was a graduate of Timpson
High School and received his bachelor
and master's degrees from Stephen
F. Austin State University. He
started teaching in Timpson after
only 2 years of college and spent
50 years of service in public
education as a high school science
teacher, coach, high school principal
and superintendent. After retirement
he continued to teach high school
science on a parttime basis.
Mr.
Hooper was a lifetime member of
First United Methodist Church,
Timpson, where he served as Chairman
of Church Council, Chairman of
Trustees and Chior Director. He
thought of himself as a simple
man who loved simple pleasures
especially time spent with family
and friends.
