Mr. Thrift passed away May 30,
2008 in Timpson.
Born
in Herberville, Georgia on March
15, 1933, Ralph Thrift was the
son of the late Hollie Dean and
Claudia (Mercer) Thrift. He served
in the U.S. Air Force during the
Korean Conflict and was a Methodist.
Ralph was a licensed real estate
broker in Houston and the East
Texas area for 40 years. He was
currently owner of Double TT Realty
in Timpson. During his years in
Timpson he had been a member of
the Timpson Lion's Club, Chamber
of Commerce and Pineywoods Board
of Realtors.
Survivors
include son Michael Thrift, of
Timpson, daughter, Claudia ANn
Thrift of Humble, Texas, granddaughter,
Ashley Dawn Thrift of Timpson,
special friend, Millie Thrift
of Baton Rouge, La., two brothers,
John and Jimmy Thrift of Hoboken,
Ga. and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ralph
was preceded in death by his brother,
Millard Thrift.

Tommy
Morrison, 79, of Center,
passed away Thursday, May 29,
2008 at a local nursing home.
He was born August 17, 1928 in
Center to Tommy Eugene Morrison
and Amanda Haley Morrison. He
graduated from the University
of Texas in 1947. In 1953 he started
the Little League in Center, along
with friends Bob Fairchild and
Bob Clifford. Tommy was an avid
cattle raiser and timber grower,
and owner of Morrison Insurance
Agency for over 50 years. He was
a Charter Member of the Sons of
the Republic of Texas, the Gateway
to Texas Chapter. Tommy was on
the Board of Directors at Farmers
State Bank and was a pass president
of the Center Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of the Center
Noon Lions Club, with over 55
years of perfect attendance. Tommy
was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Center.

William “Bill” Fischer,
Jr.
passed from this life on May 9,
2008, at his home in Santa Fe.
Born April 3, 1925 in San Antonio,
Mr. Fischer had been a resident
of Galveston County since 1927.
He left high school without graduating
to serve in the Navy during WWII
on the troop carrier Mt. Vernon
from 1942 – 1946, but was
awarded an honorary High School
diploma in 2002 when Senator Kyle
Janick recognized area high school
veterans for their similar service
to the nation. He had been employed
as a pilot and mechanic by John
Mecom Oil for 20 years and as
an aircraft mechanic by Martin
Aircraft Aviation for another
20 years.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, William and Mae Fischer,
Sr. of Galveston; his sister,
Louise Thorne of Ridgecrest, CA;
his brother, Colonel Frank O.
Fischer of Redmond, WA; and a
son, William Craig Fischer of
Santa Fe. He is survived by his
wife of 56 years, Barbara; brothers
Carl Fischer, Sr. of Houston and
Major Chester A. Fischer of Ormond,
FL; daughter, Janet Hoye Fischer
of Anchorage, AK; son and daughter-in-law,

was born in Timpson, Texas on
April 1, 1926, the son of the
late Joseph Buell and Jimmie Vera
(Corley) Bogue. He served in the
U.S. Army during WWII, was a member
of First Baptist Church, Garrison
and was a 30 year Mason. Harold
previously served as Constable
and Justice of the Peace for Nacogdoches
County.

Staff
Sergeant Kevin Casey Roberts,
age 25 of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky
was killed in the Sabari district
of Afghanistan on May 7, 2008.
His mission was to serve his country
which he did proudly for six and
a half years as a soldier with
the 101st Airborne Division. He
was assigned to Delta Company,
2nd Battalion 506th Infantry Regiment,
4th Brigade Combat Team. The events
of September 11, 2001 influenced
SSG Roberts' determination to
defend the United States. His
love of duty and love of country
were undeniable. Staff Sergeant
Roberts was all military, he earned
the respect of officers, fellow
NCOs and soldiers alike. During
his service, Staff Sergeant Roberts
was awarded numerous medals and
ribbons. Among them are the CIB,
EIB and the Army Achievement Medal,
the Bronze Star and the Purple
Heart.
Casey
was born on May 27, 1982 in Farmington,
New Mexico. He graduated from
Farmington High School in 2000.
Casey joined the La Plata Volunteer
Fire Department and served until
enlisting in the United States
Army in 2001.
SSG
Roberts strove to complete numerous
goals during his military career.
Recently he applied for the Warrant
Office program. As Casey put it,
"Flying has been a dream
of mine since I was a little boy.
My father took me along in his
ultra light aircraft and told
me stories about flying and even
let me pilot. I grew to love flying
and was fascinated by it."
The
brightest lights in SSG Roberts
life were his wife Donnice, daughter
Caehlen and son Keeghan.
He
was preceded in death by Grandparents
Thurman and Emma Roberts and Jerry
and Amanda Sisson. He is survived
by his parents Milton C. and Gerri
Sue Roberts of Farmington NM,
a brother SPC Curby R. Roberts
of FT Hood, TX and his children,
a brother Jerry E. Roberts of
Farmington, NM. Father and mother
in-law Pat and Brenda Yates of
Lebanon, Ohio. Grandparents Bob
and Delsia Powell of Shelbyville,
TX and Don and Becca Yates of
New Braunfels, TX. Brother in-law
Petty Officer 3rd Class Codey
P. Yates, his wife and child,
and numerous family members, friends
and his Brothers in Arms.
Staff
Sergeant Roberts will be buried
with full military honors. Visitation
will be held Thursday, May 15th
from 4-8PM at Mangum Funeral Home,
420 San Augustine Street, Center,
Texas. Funeral services will be
held on Friday, May 16th at 2PM
at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at West
Hamilton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements

Mrs.
Lindsey, 92, died May 10,2008,
in Shreveport. She was born July
06, 1915, in Neame, LA, the daughter
of Maude Grisham Parrish and Thomas
Parrish. She graduated from Logansport
High School in 1932 and was a
member of Haslam Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lindsey was Postmistress
in Haslam and worked at the Joaquin
Post Office for many years. She
was a devoted mother and wonderful
grandmother, who will be greatly
missed.

a truck accident early Wednesday
morning on State Hwy 139.

Vista Community near Timpson,
Texas on May 30, 1949, to parents

Danyelle was born December 10,
1989, in Nacogdoches, Texas to
Ronald and Jody Smith. She moved
with her family to Wylie, Texas
and later to Caddo Mills, Texas,
where she attended Bland ISD,
excelling in music and winning
many vocal awards. She was a member
of the Girl Scouts where she aspired
to be a good role model for younger
girls. She had many friends that
she left behind when she moved
back to Nacogdoches last year.
She recently attended Martinsville
ISD and was employed with Subway
in Center, Texas. Danyelle was
the type of person everyone loved
and made many new friends in the
short time in Nacogdoches. She
was the one person that everyone
could count on for whatever reason.
Danyelle was loved by all her
family and friends. She will be
greatly missed.
She is survived by her parents,
Ronald and Jody Smith of Nacogdoches,
Texas; sisters, Jennifer Myers
of Estherwood, LA; Maranda Smith
of Estherwood, LA, and Sarah Smith
of Nacogdoches, TX; grandmother,
