Center Middle School Twirlers “Best in Class” - December 15. 2011
Submitted by Christina Smith
The Center Middle School Twirlers attended the Vicki Bowden Mobbs Twirling Classic held annually at Kilgore College. This event is sponsored each year by the “Once Always……” Kilgore College twirlers and is open to middle school and high school flag and twirling lines across the state of Texas. This year the ladies participated in two categories, Dance Twirl and Novelty Twirl. To compete in the Dance Twirl division, you must have a routine from your band’s music, and it cannot include props. The Novelty Twirl division includes twirling the baton AND the use of a prop.
This year in the Dance twirl the ladies came in fourth place out of 15 other competing teams. Comments from the judges included “Nice difficulty level and nice free hands on poses.” The ladies received good marks on their presentation, execution, choreography, as well as their overall appearance.
In the Novelty Twirl division the ladies brought home the coveted “Best in Class” designation. For this routine the ladies twirled their batons and had a hoop in their free hand to work with. The judge’s comments included “Nice variety and use of the stage and nice shakes (hoops) and kicks…” The twirlers received good marks again in their presentation, execution, choreography, and appearance.
Members of the CMS Twirling line who performed at contest are: Bentlee Baldwin, Emily Campbell, Victoria Duvon, Lauren Haley, Jaycee Johnson, Sara Lindsey, Head Twirler : Mallory Sims, Zoey Stuever, and Emmalee Tomaszewski.
The twirlers are under the direction of Mrs. Shiela Haddox. |
