City of Center Notice of Special Election - May 7, 2012
Press Release

To the registered voters of the City of Center, Texas:

Notice is hereby given that the polling place listed below will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on May 12, 2012, for voting in a special election to elect one City Council Member from Single Member District Number Three for an unexpired term, of the City of Center.

Only registered voters residing in Single Member District Three are allowed to vote in this election.

Location of Polling place: Center City Hall, 617 Tenaha Street

April 30 - May 8, 2012 - Early voting for May municipal and school board elections.

May 12, 2012 - Municipal and school board elections.

May 14 - 25, 2012 - In-person early voting for Texas primary.

May 22, 2012 - Last day for a vote-by-mail application for primary to be received by election administrators.

May 29, 2012 - Texas primary day.

June 1, 2012 - First day a voter may submit an application for a vote-by-mail ballot for the runoff.

June 6, 2012 - Deadline for Democratic and Republican county parties to canvass election returns.

June 7, 2012 @ noon - Deadline for county parties to submit canvassed results to the state chair for their party.

June 7 - 9, 2012 - Republican state convention in Fort Worth.

June 8 - 9, 2012 - Democratic state convention in Houston.

June 9, 2012 @ 9:00 a.m.- Deadline for Democratic and Republican state parties to canvass statewide and district offices with potential runoffs and provide certified results to county parties.

June 16, 2012 - Deadline for mailing military and overseas mail ballots for runoff.

July 23 - 27, 2012 - In-person early voting for the primary runoff.

July 24, 2012 - Last day for a vote-by-mail application for runoff to be received by election officials.

July 31, 2012 - Primary runoff. Also date of elections for precinct chair. For precinct chair elections, only a plurality vote is required (no runoffs).

Secretary of State Announces New URL Address and Name for State Voter Website

AUSTIN, TX – Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade today announced a new name and URL address for Texas voters’ online voter registration and election information resource. The new name of the website is VoteTexas.gov and the URL is now www.votetexas.gov.

“Texas voters will continue to find all of the information they need to register to vote and how to cast their ballot during early voting or on Election Day, at VoteTexas.gov,” said Secretary of State Hope Andrade. The new name and web address will be much easier to remember and more intuitive for users.”

VoteTexas.gov is a comprehensive online resource available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist Texas voters in every step of the registration and voting processes.

“If you’re eligible to vote, but not yet registered, I urge you to visit VoteTexas.gov to find out how to register. If you’re already a registered voter, please check the site regularly for updates on the 2012 election cycle to ensure you have all the information necessary to vote, and make your mark on Texas,” said Secretary Andrade.

At VoteTexas.gov, Texans will learn how to register to vote, track important deadlines during every election cycle, and refresh their memory regarding what documentation is necessary when going to vote. The site also includes important functions allowing Texans to find out if they are already registered to vote, where to find their polling place and instructions on how to cast a ballot.

Previously, the website was titled votexas, with the URL, www.votexas.org. The previous URL will remain live for users who have that web address bookmarked or who choose to continue using it.
