Tenaha ISD is proud to welcome two new teachers to the district. Teresa Wiist has joined the Tenaha ISD staff as a Math and Science teacher. She will be teaching 5th grade math and 6th and 7th grade Science. Mrs. Wiist is a graduate of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She earned a degree in Accounting and Business and in 2003 received her teaching certification. Mrs. Wiist taught seven years in Wichita Falls, Texas. She has had the privilege of serving on the Texas Education Agency TAKS committee and most recently the STAAR Field Questions Analysis Committee. She and her husband, Tommy, returned to this area upon his retirement. They have four daughters and many grandchildren.
Collin Evans joins the Tenaha ISD teaching staff. Collin is originally from Carthage, TX, but attended school in Rusk where he graduated in 1995. He played basketball at Lon Morris College and then transferred to Texas State University. Collin graduated from Texas State in 2000 with a degree in business. Collin began his career in the financial world as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley in Austin. Later he became a mortgage broker until returning to the Mt. Enterprise area in 2009 to follow in the family footsteps as an educator. Both Collin’s parents are educators. His father, Dean Evans, is superintendent at Mount Enterprise, and his mother, Jan Evans, is principal at Rusk Elementary School. Most of Collin’s immediate and extended family is in education. Mr. Collin Evans has chosen to continue the family tradition by teaching Junior High and High School Math at Tenaha ISD.
Both Mrs. Teresa Wiist and Mr. Collin Evans are great assets to the Tenaha ISD teaching staff and will contribute to the success of the Tenaha ISD students. “Hiring two additional teachers in Math and Science will streamline our classes and provide a lower student to teacher ratio,” comments Terry Bowlin, Tenaha Elementary Principal. Tenaha ISD is proud to continue the tradition of excellence in academics, fine arts, and athletics. |
