Mr and Mrs Dewitt Hite Celebrate Their 72nd Anniversary - June 11, 2008

Dewitt and Nira Hite celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on June 11, 2008 at Pine Grove Nursing Center. In attendance was Mr. Dewitt's half brother Butch Adams and his wife LaVern, Mrs Nira's sister Allie Hughes, and a host of family and friends. They have 3 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. When asked what words of wisdom they had, Mrs Hite repied, "My husband joined the Navy when our daughter was 2 years old. His job included gathering the wounded and the dead from the battle field and removing the blood from their boat. My daughter cried everyday of the two years he was gone. When he returned home to his family, without a scratch, I thanked God for taking care of him while he was at war and I promised God that I would care for him the rest of the time. It is because of God's care and love that we are still together."
