TEMPLE, TEXAS, Jan. 6, 2012- USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Conservationist Salvador Salinas reminds agriculture producers that the ranking period cut-off date for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is January 27, 2012. Producers interested in CSP should submit applications to their local NRCS office by the deadline so their applications can be considered during the first ranking period of 2012. |

Texas AgriLife Extension Service to Offer Professional Food Manager Certification Training Course - Story
Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Shelby County, is offering a professional food manager certification training course. This two day program will be offered for $115 on Friday, January 27 and will finish on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Angelina County Courthouse located on 2201 S. Medford Dr. in Lufkin Texas. Cost includes training, materials, and a national food manager certification examination. Lunch breaks will be given on both days. |

| Soldier Life Presentation at Mansfield State Historic Site - Story
On Saturday, January 28, Mansfield State Historic Site will present exploring the daily life of an average Civil War Soldier. A park interpreter will be dressed as a Civil War Soldier and will explain the uniforms, equipment, and armament used and carried by Civil War infantryman, as well as the function and operation of a Civil War musket and bayonet.
The program is ongoing from 10am-3pm in the visitor center. Admission is $4 per person for ages 13-61. Children 12 and under, and seniors 62 and over are free. |
