Joseph joined the Army in 2003 and is currently deployed to Afghanistan. He is assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division ("The Bulldog Brigade"). He is a 91B-Heavy Wheel Mechanic. He is proud to serve and knows his grandfather, Herman Stephens is always watching over him.



Christy Shane Hendricks
Air Force

Christy is the youngest daughter of Shannon and Yvette Hendricks. She is the granddaughter of Tootie and Bonnie Hendricks, Ronald  and Janice Bush.

Right now Christy is in school at Eglin, Florida to become EOD-Explosive ordance disposal. After graduation she will be based at Luke AFB, Arizona.


Jennifer Oury
US Air Force Senior Airmen

Jennifer is the oldest of Shannon and the late Yvette Hendricks. She is the granddaughter of Tootie and Bonnie Hendricks, Ronald and the late Janice Bush, and Jackie and Faye Peters.

Jennifer is a medic in the US Air Force currently deployed over seas to Afghanistan. She is married to Ssgt Robert Oury who is also in the US Air Force (TACP) special ops. Currently deployed.


Joshua Thomas Waller

Joshua Thomas Waller entered military service in the U.S. Army in 2002. He joined the military out of a sense of obligation to this country. It is his belief in the American way of life and his strong belief in God that motivates him to do what he does.

Josh attended basic training at Fort Leanord Wood, Missouri, as a member of the Army Chemical Corp. After basic training he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas until he was deployed to Korea for a period of one year where he served in the Chemical Corp. After returning from Korea Josh was again stationed at Fort Hood Texas until 2006 when he was deployed to Iraq for a period of one year. After returning from Iraq in 2007, Josh was once again stationed in Fort Hood, Texas where he applied for and was accepted into the pilot program. He was then moved to Fort Rucker, Alabama where he underwent officer training and attained the rank of warrant officer. Josh then participated in pilot training and became a helicopter pilot. Currently Josh is serving in Afghanistan as an Apache attack helicopter pilot. We very much look forward to his once again returning from foreign deployment safely. Your thoughts and prayers for Josh and for all of troops are appreciated much more than you could ever know.

Current Duty Station: FOB Shank, Afghanistan

2007 Graduate Shelbyville High School

Tommie completed Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in August of 2007 and AIT as a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operator at Fort Huachuca, Arizona in February 2008.

He was assigned to the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, and deployed to FOB Loyalty near Bagdad, Iraq, earning the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Returning in December 2008, Tommie is permanently stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

In October, 2010, Tommie was deployed to FOB Shank located in the Logar province in Eastern Afghanistan.

I joined the Air Force on 23 February 1994. I attended Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. After basic training I attended Technical School at Sheppard Air Force Base Texas. My job was Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration. From there I went to Shaw Air Force Base SC. After two years in South Carolina, I was stationed in Osan Air Base, South Korea. After one year in Korea, I spent the next eight years at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia in Warner Robins, Georgia. From there, I went to Technical School again at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. My job changed from HVAC/R to Paralegal. I’m currently stationed at Columbus Air Force Base Mississippi. I have been deployed to the Middle East five times (Oman, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, & Afghanistan. I’ve been in the Air Force for 15 years.

Daniel is stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. He is proudly serving his country and will be deployed for his second tour of duty to Afghanistan in Oct, 2011.

Jackie Kirkwood

MSgt Kirkwood is the Non-commissioned officer in charge of Chaplain Services for the 917th Wing at Barksdale AFB, LA. He has been a chaplain assistant for the last seven years. Before becoming a chaplain assistant, he was a member of the 917th security forces for four years. He was a member of the Construction Battallion with the US Navy for nine years before joining the Air Force Reserves. He has served a total of twenty years in the military reserves. MSgt Kirkwood has deployed twice since the attack of 9/11. He was deployed for 45 days to Moron, Spain two months after the attack. In January 2005, he was deployed for 30 days to Guam in support of B-52 forces in that region. His major awards include:

He currently serves as director of the Shelby County Alternative Educational Cooperative, a position he has held for over three years.

Jeremiah B. Soape
United States Army, 1st Lieutenant

Lt. Soape was deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 with the 10th Mountain Infantry Division, Ft. Polk, Louisiana and received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Award and Combat Action Badge. He also has completed Air Assualt and Repel Master training and has recieved his Airborne wings. After Afghanistan he left for Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in January of 2007. Michael went to basic training at Ft. Jackson in South Carolina, then to officers training school at Ft. Benning in Georgia where he received his bar for 2nd Lieutenant. Michael received further training at Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma, and returned to Ft. Benning before going to South Korea. Michael received the rank of Lieutenant upon his arrival in South Korea. He plans to stay in South Korea for 18 months after which he was promoted to Captain.

Having originally enlisted right after high school, Jeremy served three years as a Paratrooper, then got out of the Army for three years. He re-enlisted and has trained at different duty stations from Ft. Campbell to two different F.O.B.s(Forward Operating Bases) in Afghanistan. He returned to Fort Campbell KY and was then transferred to Fort Carson, CO. The photo was taken as he returned from his last tour in Afghanistan. He serves as a Communication Technician and works on radio's in different areas, wherever the Army needs him. He and his wife Chrissy and their son Joshua love Colorado.
