Shelbyville 4-H Canned Food Drive - October 10, 2008

The Shelbyville 4-H is sponsoring a canned food drive for those less fortunate. During the months of October and November, they are asking for non-perishable, canned donations. Please give your cans to 4-Hers that you know, or call Amber at 332-9091 for drop off locations or more information.

Shelbyville Homecoming Game - September 29, 2008

Homecoming at Dragon Stadium was Friday, September 26th. The 2008 Homecoming court was: Haleigh Cooper escorted by Jeffery Cagle, Kelsi Griffin escorted by Levi Willoughby Omunique Brooks escorted by Andre Brown, Ashlynn Burrell escorted by Deshane Burrell, Anna Shofner escorted by Ryan Wilburn, Jade Hagler escorted by father, Paul Hagler, Monica Holloway escorted by Michael Andrews, JaKuala McClelland escorted by Decova Moore, and Bailee Wilburn escorted by Jesse Teske.

The 2008 Shelbyville Homecoming Queen was Monica Holloway, the daughter of Carrie Graves and the late Jerry Holloway, and the granddaughter of Betty Holloway. Monica was crowned by last years Homecoming Queen Pamela Brinson along with the assistance of Principal Mario Osby and teacher Michelle Whiddon.

 

The Dragon Football Sweetheart was Hannah Dramburger, pictured left with seniors Jeremy Hancock and Mac Gurley. Band Sweetheart was Audra Wilburn and Band Beau was Jake Jones.

 

 

Dragons Win Homecoming

The Dragons won the coin toss deferring to the second half to receive the football. Tigers received the kick and after a short series of plays fumbled the ball on their 29. The Dragons recovered the fumble. One play after the fumble recovery, Wilburn passed to Willoughby for a 29 yard touch down pass. Brinson scored a two point conversion on a short run making the score 8 to 0. Dragons kickoff and Tigers received. After three downs and out, Trinity attempted to punt but the snap went over the punter’s head and Dragons recovered. After a short series of plays Brinson scored on a 12 yard run. The Dragons attempted a 2 point conversion but the Tigers held them. With 6:51 left in the 1st quarter the score is 14 – 0.

Dragons kicked off to the Trinity Tigers with the Dragon defense stopping the Tigers who were then forced to punt. During the attempt the snap went over the punter’s head and Dragons recovered the fumble. Some plays later Brinson scores on a 9 yard run down the right side. The PAT was no good bringing the score to 20 – 0 with 3:33 left in the quarter. On the ensuing series of down the Tigers were again forced to punt. A bad snap over the punter’s head sent the football into the end zone. The football was recovered by the Tigers resulting in a safety for the Dragon making the score now Dragons 22 – Trinity 0.

Dragons punted after 3 downs. Dragons dug in setting up a defensive battle which forced the Tigers to punt. Brinson received the punt and had a good run back setting up the Dragons deep in Tiger territory. A few plays later with 3 seconds left in the 1 quarter, Brinson scored on a 9 yard run from the left side. Wilburn passed to Brinson for the 2 point conversion bringing the score to 30 – 0 to end the first quarter.

With 43 seconds left in the second quarter Ryan Wilburn scored on a 2 yard run. The point after attempt was good. Making the score 37 – 0.

During the majority of the second half the Dragons played their second string. The Dragons scored with 6 minutes left in the third quarter when Austin Rabalais ran for 30 yards. The point after attempt was no good.

The rest of the game was a defensive battle between the Tigers and Dragons. The Dragon defense only allowed 1 first down. The final score was Dragons 43 and Tigers 0 making the Dragons 5-0 for the season.

Shelbyville ISD Homecoming Court and Activities - September 23, 2008

This is homecoming week for Shelbyville and they will play Trinity at Dragon Stadium on Friday, September 26th. Homecoming events will begin at 7:00 pm. The Homecoming Queen candidates are Anna Shofner, Monica Holloway, and Ashlynn Burrell. The queen's court is: Juniors, JaKuala McClelland and Bailee Wilburn; Sophomores, Jade Hagler and Omunique Brooks; and Freshmen, Kelsi Griffin and Haleigh Cooper.

Shelbyville Homecoming Alumni Social

Shelbyville High School is pleased to sponsor an afternoon social for all Shelbyville graduates. The social will take place on Friday Sept. 26, 2008, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the High School foyer. Refreshments will be served. The Yearbook Department will have yearbooks available for viewing and for sale. All Alumni are invited to attend. Following the social will be the Homecoming ceremony and game, with events beginning at 7:00 p.m. Let's cheer for our UNDEFEATED Dragons! Contact Teresa Johnson at the High School for more information.

Shelbyville Homecoming Dance

A Homecoming Dance for Shelbyville High School students will be held Friday night, September 26th, immediately following the football game. The dance is open to Shelbyville students in grades 9 through 12 and will last until around midnight. Tickets cost $6 and may be purchased from the Yearbook Department. Any parents wishing to donate refreshments may contact Michele Whiddon at the High School for more information.

Shelbyville Dragons Undefeated - September 22, 2008

The Shelbyville Dragons traveled to Huntington to face the Red Devils head to head in a game Friday, September 19th. The dragons, lead by Coach Jim Bradford, came away victorious bringing them to a record of 4-0. The Red Devils scored the first touchdown of the game and were ahead at the half with a score of 21 to 14. The dragons returned to the field for the second half of the game on fire. They held the Red Devils at 21 points and scored an additional 27 points ending the game with a final score of 41 to 21.
