Each Fantastic Tooth kit contained a blue or pink toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, a two minute timer to ensure adequate brushing and dental education information in both English and Spanish for parents. |
On Wednesday, February 1st, 2012, first grade students at S.W. Carter Elementary got a lesson in tooth care. Students were introduced to members of Sam Houston Masonic Lodge No. 32 who handed out dental kits to each child.
The Sam Houston Masonic Lodge #32 handed out close to 60 free dental kits to first graders at S.W. Carter Elementary School.
Shelbyville nurse "Mama Jeane" welcomed the Masons and explained to the children how important it was to take care of their teeth. Each student practiced brushing their teeth for two minutes with their finger, while "Mama Jeane" watched the two minute timer.
Lodge members handing out packets included Mack O'Rear, Mark O'Rear and Delray Lumpkin and they were greeted with wide smiles and “thank- you”s for providing the kits.
The Fantastic Teeth Fan Club began as a pilot program of Masonic Children and Family Services in 2009, designed to prevent tooth decay and reduce the costs of expensive dental treatment. |
